Prepping:
· Gather all your ingredients.
· Pre-measure your ingredients.
· Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
· Grease your baking pan or use a baking mat.
Ingredients: This recipe consists of traditional baking ingredients. The ingredients in this recipe are essential. The yeast is vital for making the dough rise and should not be substituted. For this recipe, you will need:
· 2 cups milk preferable warmed
· 6 cups flour
· 1 package of instant yeast
· ¼ cup sugar
· 2 tsp salt
· 6 tablespoons room temperature butter
· 1 egg
· 1 tbsp melted butter or egg wash (1 egg and 1 tbsp of water)
Instructions:
1. For this recipe, gather all your dry ingredients and sift them into your mixer bowl.
2. Then, begin to add all your wet ingredients.
3. With a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together. This step will eliminate the splatter of flour.
4. Once the wet ingredients have been incorporated, turn the mixer to a low-medium speed until the dough begins to gather into a semi-sticky ball. The time for this may vary but may take 4 to 5 minutes.
5. Take the dough out of the mixing bowl and place it on a mat. Continue to roll and shape it.
6. Oil a container and place the ball inside the container. Cover it and place it in a warm spot in your house. Allow it time to rise. It may take 90 minutes.
7. Once the 90 minutes are up, knead the dough until smooth and all the air is gone. It will take 5 minutes.
8. Creat dough balls using a scale to get even-sized dough balls. Mine weighed 25 grams each. Make them as big or as small as you like.
9. Roll them into smooth balls using the palm of your hand.
10. Once you are done making the dough balls, place them on your baking sheet and cover them with a towel. Place them in a warm place for another 30 minutes to allow them to rise.
11. After 30 minutes, brush the top of the rolls with an egg wash.
12. Finally, pop them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes.
Topper Tips:
1. When baking, it is essential to prep well. Follow all the prep instructions to make this a smooth and quick process.
2. Greasing your baking pan is essential. For this recipe, I used a baking mat.
3. Use a scale to ensure that all the dough balls are the same size.
4. Give the dough the entire time to rise. It will ensure a softer roll.
5. Don't overbake the dough. It will only toughen your bread rolls.
