How To Make Indian Penne Pasta

When I think of pasta, I think of heartiness and happiness. Pasta is one of those dishes that you can make as a main course or use to complement one. This recipe is easy and flavorful. The ingredients are traditional, but there is an element of surprise in every mouthful. For this recipe, I used Costco Organic Chicken Meatballs. I did not include them in the recipe as it is an optional ingredient depending on how you plan to serve this dish.

Ingredients

Ingredients: In this recipe, you will see traditional American elements and exciting new additions. I am always willing to experiment with new flavors and spices to create savory new dishes. For this recipe, you will need:

125 grams or one small onion

14 grams or one raw jalapeno

10 grams or one small stick of ginger

12 grams or four cloves of garlic

75 grams or half a bell pepper

10 grams of chopped parsley

25 oz of basil pasta sauce

1 tbsp salt

½ tsp pepper

1 tbsp garam masala

1 tbsp fennel seed

½ cup of water

500 grams of penne pasta

Pasta Sauce & Garam Masala

Instructions:

1. Boil pasta in a half-gallon of water. Boil for approximately 7 minutes. Slow down the cooking process by turning off the flame. Let the pasta sit in hot water for another 3 minutes. Stop the cooking process entirely by taking the pasta out of the water and pouring cold or ice water over it.

2. Use medium to high heat and add 2 tbsp of oil to a pot or large pan.

3. To the hot oil, add the garlic, jalapeno, onion, and ginger. All these ingredients receive a medium cook to release their aroma and flavor.

4. I added the basil pasta sauce to the mixture, a tablespoon of salt, and a half teaspoon of pepper. I stirred the mixture making sure to incorporate all the ingredients well.

5. Then, I added the garam masala for flavor and aromatics. Stir well as you want the sauce to envelope all the garam masala has to offer.

6. I added the pasta and the peppers to the sauce mixture and topped it off with fennel seeds. Give this a quick stir.

7. Finally, add the parsley and ½ cup water. Allow this mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.

Topper Tips:

1. Boil the pasta until al dente. Pasta should not have a mushy texture.

2. Be cautious not to overcook the pasta and peppers as you want to avoid any pulpous texture.

3. Do not over stir the dish. You want to keep the pasta intact and avoid breaking it.
